Moorland, IA – A Webster County woman has been charged with attempted murder in a shooting from last Thursday in Moorland.
29-year-old Cheyanne Guthrie of Moorland was charged today in announcement by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office. The charge, a Class B Felony stems from an incident on September 26 after Webster County Dispatchers were contacted by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office bout a shooting victim being treated in Mason City.
The investigation revealed that at 8:30 a.m., the victim drove to a residence at 618 Front Street where he and Guthrie engaged in a verbal altercation. During the altercation, Guthrie displayed a firearm and shot through the driver’s door of the male’s vehicle striking him in the abdomen. The victim was transported by personal vehicle to the Mason City hospital where he was treated and released.
Guthrie is currently being held in the Webster County Jail on $250,000 bond.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Webster County Attorney’s Office, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, and Iowa State Patrol in the investigation.
