Fire at Corteva Agriscience plant in Renwick, no injuries reported

Renwick, IA – Fire crews were on scene this morning for a fire in the discard area of Corteva Agriscience in Renwick. No injuries have been reported.

According to Humboldt County EMA Director Kyle Bissell, the fire started in the discard area at 9:15 a.m. at 110 N Stoddard St. in Renwick. All occupants were able to make it out safely and were sheltered in Renwick City Hall. As of 10 a.m. the fire was under control and was out by 10:30 a.m.

Firefighters were able to make a rapid extinguishment of the fire. They checked for fire extension and completed an overhaul of the machinery.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but preliminary reports are leaning toward a spark from a motor ignited discarded materials in a filter.
Renwick and Goldfield Fire, Renwick EMS, Humboldt County EMA, and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office were on scene.
