Humboldt, IA – High school basketball games on Friday in Humboldt will feature a couple of programs for awareness.

This Friday, January 17 during the Humboldt and Algona basketball games, there will be a Walking Taco fundraising event running from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Humboldt Middle School students and members of the Humboldt Team 4 Hungry are combining efforts to raise money for their Meals from the Heartland meal packaging event, which will be held on March 14 for students and March 15 for community members.

To date, Humboldt County has packaged well over 1 million meals for those in need, many of which stay right here in Humboldt County. Members of Team 4 Hungry will be seeking donations, volunteers, and even new members to join their team. This is a free-will donation event.

The games are also a part of a “Slam The Stigma” event aimed at bringing awareness and offering resources on mental health. All attendees are encouraged to wear green to help show their support of mental health and awareness. A t-shirt fundraiser was held back in December with the branded “Slam The Stigma” logo on them with funds going to support mental health and wellness.
