Humboldt boys’ and girls’ basketball sweeps St. Edmond

Humboldt, IA – A pair of North Central Conference (NCC) battles between the St. Edmond Gaels and Humboldt Wildcats girls’ and boys’ basketball teams ended in a sweep for Humboldt Tuesday night at Humboldt High School.

The Humboldt girls’ won 64-41 over St. Edmond with Morgan Mann pacing the team with 17 points. Ava Fischer had 12 on the night and St. Edmond’s leading scorer was Chloe Palmer with 16.

Humboldt improves to 5-4 (3-1 NCC) and will head to Belmond-Klemme Thursday. St. Edmond fell to 2-6 (0-4 NCC).

The Humboldt boys took down third ranked in 1A St. Edmond 95-66 with a big night by Senior Coen Matson, who converted seven threes for 21 points, one triple from tying the school record.

The rest of the starting five for Humboldt all were in double figures. Elliot Carlson had 19, Mason Van Pelt and Jackson Flaherty each had 16, and Jackson Dodd had 14. Humboldt as a team registered 16 three-pointers. For St. Edmond, Hunter Horn had 24.
