Dakota City, IA – The Humboldt County Conservation Board in a unanimous 3-0 vote approved a resolution on the transfer of the Rutland Dam to the City of Rutland, pending the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors approval.
The resolution, which gives the City of Rutland control and management of the Rutland Dam and property at 301 4th Ave S in Rutland is the first step in a process for the R.I.V.E.R. Development Group, Inc. to take over management of the dam acting as a betterment committee for the city. The transfer is for $1 from the city to the county.
The next step needed is approval by the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors. The future for the Joe Reasoner Dam is still up in the air after the city of Humboldt denied purchasing the dam in a special session on Monday.
