Humboldt girls’ and boys’ basketball set to host key NCC matchup against Clear Lake

Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are back in North Central Conference (NCC) play tonight as Clear Lake comes to town.

The Humboldt girls’ at 9-8 and 5-3 in the NCC are coming off a tough road loss Tuesday against Hampton-Dumont/CAL and look to rebound against a Clear Lake Lions team at 5-10 and a 3-5 conference mark.

That’s Humboldt Head Girls’ Basketball Coach Rodd Mooney. The Humboldt girls’ won the first matchup at Clear Lake 51-49 in a double overtime thriller on December 20.

The red-hot Humboldt boys’ have won nine consecutive games coming into the matchup tonight with top-ranked unbeaten Clear Lake in Class 3A. The Wildcats have an overall mark of 11-4 and are 8-1 in the NCC, their lone conference loss on the road at the hands of Lions 74-53 on December 20. Clear Lake remains perfect on the 2024-25 campaign at 14-0 and 8-0 in the conference. The Lions have won 32 consecutive regular season conference games, their last conference loss at Humboldt in a tightly contested 85-80 game on Jan 13, 2023.
