Bode, IA – A house erupted into flames in rural Bode Thursday afternoon resulting in a total loss of the residence.
According to Humboldt County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Kyle Bissell, a call came in at 1:41 p.m. Thursday of a structure fire at 1648 140th St. to the southeast of Bode with a house fully engulfed in flames.
Bissell says that the residents were eventually contacted as there was no one at the home at the time of the fire, leading him to discover from the family that their pets were inside during the fire.
Bissell says his agency is helping to facilitate support for the family of two who suffered the total loss.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Assisting on scene were the Bode and Ottosen Fire Departments, who both utilized tankers; the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Humboldt County Emergency Management Agency, and Midland Power Cooperative.
