Humboldt, IA – After six seasons at the helm of Humboldt boys’ basketball, Head Coach Jason Thurm is stepping away from the bench at Humboldt High School.
Under Thurm, the boys’ basketball program accumulated a record of 97-42. The team had their best season under Thurm in the 2021-22 season with a record of 21-4 (12-2 NCC) in route to the program’s first North Central Conference title since 2006-07, sharing with Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. The team won the Substate Final over Spencer to advance to the 2022 State Tournament, their first appearance since 2014, where the Wildcats fell to Assumption Davenport in the 3A Quarterfinals.
Thurm has served as the Head Baseball Coach for the school’s baseball program since 2000 and will continue to do so with this summer marking his 26th season.
His resignation letter is set to be accepted at the next school board meeting for the Humboldt Community School District. A search for a new head boys’ basketball coach is now underway.
