KHBT – The National Weather Service says chances are increasing for a significant weather system to bring rain and snow to the area Tuesday night into Wednesday and high winds Wednesday morning.

A winter storm watch will go into effect Tuesday night for the area, lasting until Wednesday afternoon.

Per the National Weather Service, very strong northwest winds, gusting over 50 mph, are forecast from Tuesday night into Wednesday. Rain will also change to snow from northwest to southeast on Tuesday night, and falling snow combined with the very strong winds will cause significant visibility reductions with a period of blizzard conditions possible. Snow covered roads will also make travel hazardous. Conditions should gradually improve later Wednesday as the snow ends and winds slowly subside.
