Fort Dodge, IA – The Iowa Court of Appeals has upheld the first degree murder conviction of a Fort Dodge man.

Lakendrick Mosley was convicted of first-degree murder in the 2022 Christmas Day murder of Montreail Dungy back in October 2023. During that trial, prosecutors argued that Mosley shot the 46-year-old Dungy four times at point-blank range while he sat in his car in the 1000 block of 10th Avenue Southwest at approximately 3 a.m. Dec. 25, 2022.

Mosley appealed the sentence, saying there was a lack of sufficient evidence, citing cell phone data, video images and lack of a murder weapon.
The Iowa Court of Appeals opinion on Wednesday affirmed Mosley’s conviction for murder in the first degree. Mosley had also previously asked for a new trial in 2023, which was denied.

Mosely is currently serving life in prison without the possibility of parole.
