Goldfield, IA – A train derailment in Goldfield led to a closure for a few hours on IA 3.

Around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) reported the train derailment, which led to the train blocking both lanes of IA 3. The Iowa DOT sent drivers on a detour south to Eagle Grove, east on NE 2nd Street north of Eagle Grove, and back north on Hancock Avenue while the road was blocked.

The highway was reopened approximately two hours later.
