Humboldt, IA – An accident involving a semi-tractor trailer and a Chevrolet Equinox resulted in minor injuries Wednesday along US. Highway 169.
The accident occurred in front of Ace Hardware toward the northern city limits of Humboldt. The 2018 Chevy Equinox was traveling southbound on the 1700 block of 13th Street North (Highway 169) with the semi-tractor trailer driving northbound.
According to the accident report, the driver of the semi stated there was a motorcycle turning into the Ace Hardware parking lot, which caused traffic to suddenly stop and causes the driver to slam on his breaks. Knowing that there wasn’t adequate time to stop and not strike the vehicles in front, the driver of the semi veered into the southbound lane to avoid hitting them.
The driver of the semi stated he did not strike the Equinox, but instead the river of the equinox had maneuvered to the right, causing the car to hit the curb and redirect into traffic, striking the semi on its side.
The semi received damage to its undercarriage and side with the equinox totaled in the accident. The driver of the Equinox was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
