Humboldt, IA – Two Humboldt County teens are in custody on charges of third degree burglary.
A 15-year-old and 17-year-old from Livermore were taken into custody Thursday after the Humboldt County Law Enforcement Center received a call at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday of a burglary in progress at Livermore Fastway, located at 502 3rd Ave. in Livermore. The witness observed at least two individuals inside the store wearing masks stealing items. When deputies arrived, the individuals had already fled the scene.
After reviewing surveillance footage from inside the store, two people of interest were identified as possible suspects. On August 7, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) conducted two separate searches. Items stolen during the burglary were located at both locations. Through the investigation it was discovered that both teens had also burglarized Livermore Fastway several months earlier.
Both of the male teens were charged with two counts of burglary in 3rd degree, a class D felony, and were transported to Central Iowa Detention in Eldora. HCSO has not released the names of the teens arrested due to the suspects being underaged. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Humboldt County Attorney’s Office, the Humboldt Police Department and Juvenile Court Services.
