Badger, IA – The Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department responded to a combine fire Tuesday afternoon in Humboldt County in northern rural Badger.

Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department Lieutenant Trey Thompson says the call came in at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday to a field located at 2774 Penn Ave.

There were no injuries, and the combine was not a total loss. The department brought two tankers, an engine truck, and a brush truck on the call. Also on scene was Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger, who provided traffic control along Penn Avenue.

The fire was the fourth combine fire this year according to Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger. Lieutenant Thompson says farmers usually take precautions when out in the fields and have done a good job this year at prevention measures.

The department also says farmers should make sure to have tillage or water on hand for dry conditions.
