Heavy snowfall across the region Thanksgiving weekend

Humboldt, IA – Heavy snowfall impacted the region Thanksgiving weekend, leaving many Iowans to have to break out the snow shovels after impacts came to a close Sunday.

Fort Dodge saw the highest snowfall in the region with KCCI-TV storm reports listing the city at 16.5 inches. Measurements in Clarion were recorded at 14.7 inches, Humboldt at approximately 9 inches of snow and Algona registered a snowfall of 8.7 inches.

The snowfall over the weekend has several area schools delaying the school day and some even canceling school this morning. Delays of two hours this morning with no preschool include:

  • Humboldt, Twin Rivers, & St. Marys Schools
  • Algona Public/Parochial & Lu Verne Schools
  • Belmond-Klemme
  • Fort Dodge
  • Gilmore City-Bradgate
  • Manson NW Webster
  • North Union
  • Pocahontas
  • Pocahontas Catholic School
  • Southeast Valley
  • St. Edmond Catholic School
  • Webster City
  • West Bend-Mallard

Schools closed for classes today are:

  • Clarion-Goldfield-Dows
  • Eagle Grove
  • Iowa Central Community College
