The Humboldt County Democrats are set to hold their annual caucus next week.
The caucus will be held on Monday, February 2 at the Pasquale’s party room in Humboldt, where participants may start gathering at 5:30 p.m.
The caucus officially begins at 7 p.m. All registered Democrats are encouraged to participate. If you are not a registered Democrat, you may register at the caucus. Anyone that will be age 18 by November 4, 2026, is eligible.
“We encourage everyone who might be dissatisfied with our current government policies to attend. Attending a caucus is a first-step in standing up for representative government,” said T.C. Loving, Humboldt County Democrats co-secretary.
The purpose of the Democratic caucus in a non-presidential election year is to hear from candidates and organize the county party. At the Feb 2 caucus, participants will hear from Kyle Kruse, candidate for Iowa House District 56. Humboldt County Democrats will elect officers to their central committee, delegates to the Humboldt County Democratic Convention in March, and begin working on changes to the Iowa Democratic Platform.
There will also be an opportunity to connect with people working for Democratic principles across the state. “Attendees are encouraged to join citizen’s action statewide groups to counter special interest of people and organizations with money and power,” said Joe Hadar, Humboldt County Democrats Co-Chairperson.
The Humboldt County Democrats meet monthly on the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at Miller’s Landing. You can keep up to date with all their activities on their website: humboldtcountydemocrats.org.
