Humboldt girls’ and boys’ basketball split doubleheader with Charles City

Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt girls’ and boys’ basketball teams split a non-conference doubleheader with future North Central Conference member Charles City Monday night at Humboldt High School.
In the girls’ game, Humboldt overpowered Charles City 56-17. Ava Fischer led the Wildcats in the winning effort with 17 points. Evelyn Mayhew recorded a game-high 10 points for the Comets. Humboldt improved to 6-5 and will host Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (0-12) at 6 p.m. Tuesday night.
In the boys’ tilt, Charles City took control at the end of the third quarter to defeat Humboldt 69-60. The Comets’ Jesus Villagomez recorded 32 points to pace his team in the win. Chase Flaherty registered 15 points for Humboldt.
With the loss, Humboldt falls to 6-5 and will hosts Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (9-2) Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
