Humboldt City Administrator talks HPD and HFD additions, sanitation update

Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department and Humboldt Police Department have each added to their staffs, making the move official at Monday’s Humboldt City Council meeting.

City Administrator Cole Bockelmann says the Police Department is now up to five officers with the hiring of officer Nick Nolting, who has prior experience with the department.

Bockelmann says the city is actively recruiting for its final vacancy for a sixth officer. The Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department also added two more firegghters to its volunteer staff with Nate Nostrom and Jackson Kampen. Dicussions continued regarding sanitation and recycling for the city of Humboldt that ended with a decision by the council.

The city had been weighing a change to an outside source for trash and recycling services.
