Belmond, IA – Two people are dead as a result of a two-vehicle crash in Wright County Friday night.
According to the Iowa State Patrol crash report, at approximately 7:30 p.m. a pickup truck was traveling south on Highway 69 near 200th Street when the driver made an illegal U-turn as a second southbound pickup truck struck the first while in the midst of the turn.
The Iowa State Patrol says both the driver and passenger of the first truck died on scene. The individuals were identified as 65-year-old Michael Thomas Michelson of Belmond and 71-year-old Ellen Kay Countryman of Belmond.
The crash remains under investigation.
