Dakota City, Iowa — Interim Engineer Ben Loots and the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing Monday morning on fiscal year 2019’s Secondary Roads Construction Program.

Loots explained to the board that there are several major construction projects upcoming within that five-year window.

Just in 2019 alone, Humboldt County Secondary Roads will embark on eleven total projects. That’s followed up by four projects in 2020, seven in 2021, two in 2022 and three in 23.

Totaling 27 total projects, Secondary Roads will average about five projects per year during this five-year window.

Due to a clerical error on the county supervisors agenda, the board could not act on it.

No, it’s not catastrophic” Loots explained regarding the supervisors inability to act on the public hearing.

[We] wanted to start paving next week and I have to the numbers in by April 15th, but it’s not catastrophic” he reiterated.

The supervisors will act on the matter — a mere formality now — at their meeting next week.
