Ames, Iowa — Monday marked the start of the State Future Farmers of America Conventions in Ames and Humboldt’s own Grant Kuehnast and Hannah Himrod are representing the Wildcats.
“[Grant and I] are able to go around and talk to different agricultural colleges and business and have learned more about them” explained Himrod.
The two partook in several events yesterday, including helping package meals for the Meals for the Heartland program, the seventh year FFA and Meals from the Heartland have partnered together.
According to the official press release, “I Can. We Will.” is the theme for this year’s convention, implies FFA members can make their voice be heard in educating others on the importance of agriculture and growing resources in the food, fiber and natural resources industry as it impacts the quality of life.
“We are able to see different things that other chapters do, which helps improve our chapter” said Himrod.
The release also says that several guests will present at the convention including Mandy
Harvey, motivational speaker and National FFA Secretary, Erica Baier who will address the conference. State
officers from ten other states will also be in attendance presenting various workshops and interacting with FFA
members from Iowa.
“I’ve learned how important leadership is” said Himrod “[we] both will be able to use in it our chapter moving forward.”
