Humboldt, Iowa — The City of Humboldt announced Monday that they were selected to receive a FEMA AFG Grant which would go towards the purchase of new air-packs for the Humboldt Fire

The grant is a 95/5 match, according to the city and the purchase will include some training associated with the packs.

The grant requires the city to purchase the air-packs and subsequent training, then FEMA will reimburse the city following the proof of purchase.

According to the AFG Grant website, the primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) is to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire-related hazards by providing direct financial assistance to eligible fire departments, nonaffiliated Emergency Medical Services organizations, and State Fire Training Academies.

This funding is for critically needed resources to equip and train emergency personnel to recognized standards, enhance operations efficiencies, foster interoperability, and support community resilience.
