Humboldt, Iowa — This weekend, the Humboldt High School graduating class of 2019 had their commencement ceremony.

91 students graduated Sunday. One student was unable to make it but was certainly on everybody’s mind. Ashlyn Clark was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. Principal Lori Westhoff assured those in attendance that Ashlyn was tuning in through a web-cam.

The class of 2019 all wore blue bracelets to show support for Ashlyn.

Even though class won’t be in session, the public is invited to Humboldt High School next month for an escape room. Escape rooms are a rapidly growing phenomenon where attendees try and decipher clues to escape a locked room.

June 3rd and 4th from 4 to 9 P.M. those interested can test their skills at the school.

Humboldt High School math teacher Pam Swan says the cost is only $25 per person, which beats “having to drive down to Des Moines.”
