Humboldt, IA — The public is invited to share their opinions of the downtown revitalization project in Humboldt next week.

In what’s called a “community betterment meeting,” people will get a chance to speak their minds and ask any questions they may have about the downtown project – as well as offer new ideas. Humboldt City Administrator Travis Goedken says it will be a come and go, open house format.

“We will have large post-it notes that people can put on bulletin boards that will encompass different projects and events members of the community are interested in pursuing.” Goedken says ideas aren’t limited to new projects; they could be things from the soon-defunct Chamber of Commerce.

Goedken says the meeting is intended to focus on community, whether people are for or against some of the changes happening downtown. He wants those who attend to focus on the positives and not point fingers or place blame for things that might not have worked in the past.

It is about the future, says Goedken, who will help organize a group (or groups) “that will want to focus on three or four key things” that will help support and grow the Humboldt community.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, December 18th, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Humboldt Community Center located on 1st Avenue South.
