Two presidential candidates ring in New Year in Iowa

Des Moines, IA — Two presidential candidates rang in the new year here in Iowa.

Bernie Sanders and Cory Booker both celebrated 2020 in the Des Moines area. Senator Sanders in Des Moines, Booker in Ankeny.

Sanders hosted a party at a hotel and wished the crowd a “Happy New Year” shortly after 8 PM and expressed his confidence in a 2020 Iowa Caucus win.

The Vermont Senator saying in the new year he will “defeat the most dangerous president in the modern history of America.” Sanders previously knocked on doors and met with Des Moines residents.

A resident who chose to remain anonymous told Sanders she fears the country will experience another civil war if Donald Trump is re-elected.

Sanders’ campaign is expected to knock on half a million doors starting this week through Caucus Day – February 3rd – according to Deputy State Director for the Sanders Campaign, Bill Neidhardt.

New Jersey Senator Cory Booker held a mid-day event at an Ankeny residence and did a countdown to New Year’s Eve at Noon. Booker also campaigned in Creston, Shenandoah, and Perry on Wednesday.
