LIHEAP deadline extended to end of month

Humboldt, IA – The LIHEAP application period is receiving an extension in light of the COVID-19 situation putting strain on some household’s financials.

In a recent press release from the Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc. they announce the low-income home energy assistance program (LIHEAP) application period is getting an extension until May 31. This extension was passed down from the State of Iowa Public Health Disaster Emergency and the Departmenf of Human Rights, Division of Community Action Agencies.

They recognize that many Iowa families are facing challenges as a result of the virus. These challenges could lead to difficulty in paying utility bills. The Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc. want you to know there is help available through the LIHEAP. The program will provide assistance based on several factors including house hold income and size.
