Humboldt, IA – Two contracts approved by city council during their most recent meeting to continue services with two local providers.
During the most recent Humboldt City Council meet the council was presented with two action items to approve service contracts for a three year time span. Humboldt City Administrator Travis Goedken talks with KHBT on the two contracts.
The first contract was for municipal insurance which has to be put to bid and approved by council every three years per the city cash management policy. Goedken says that the city only received one bid for the contract from Abens, Marty, Curran Agency located in Humboldt. The agency is the current insurance provider for the city and the coverage plan has not changed for the city. There will be a four percent increase to the cost due to inflation and updates to city structures and equipment. To clarify, Goedken says this is insurance for the city itself to cover things such as buildings, equipment and workers compensation. The contract renewal is for the fiscal years 2021 to 2023.
The second contract council approved is for audit services. The city administrator says that the city received two bids for the contract, one from an agency out of Carroll and one from TP Anderson in Humboldt. Despite the contract offer from Carroll being a lower offer the council felt best to stay local with the service and award the contract to TP Anderson. TP Anderson has been doing the audit services for “many, many years” according to Goedken which also played a factor in the decision. The contract approved by council is good for the fiscal years of 2020-2022.
With both contracts being approved by city council the Humboldt May Dan Scholl was able to sign the agreements.
