Humboldt softball dominates a Friday night

Humboldt, IA – Humboldt High School Softball continues to show dominance in their Friday night win over St. Edmond.

On Friday, June 19, the Wildcats hosted St. Edmond. This would be the second time these two teams faced during the course of the season and it was another victory for Humboldt, 15-5 final. In the high scoring affair, St. Edmond jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning after Kacey Kruthoff hit a home run that also plated Kaili Henning. Wildcats would quickly respond in the bottom of the inning and the second as well, scoring a total of 13 runs between the two innings. Gaels and Wildcats would both scoring the fourth to get the final score up to 15-5, bring the game to a mercy rule ending in five innings.

  • As a team the Wildcats had 16 hits.
  • Claire Varangkounh was 2-3, reached on an error with 2 RBIs.
  • Alexis Hansen was 3-3 with 3 RBIs and a double.

Humbodlt High School Softball is now 3-0 on the season. The Wildcats will be back in action on Monday, June 22, on the road against Hampton-Dumont-CAL. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
