Humboldt, IA – HCMH will begin allowing visitors as COVID-19 restrictions are eased.
Humboldt County Memorial Hospital will be relaxing a few visitor restrictions. In a press release from HCMH Director of Community Development, Mardi Ratzlaff, says with as the team gains more knowledge of COVID-19, secures more personal protective equipment (PPE) and high quantities of testing kits, the number of restrictions placed on patients, visitors and staff will be reduced. All changes come with following recommendations from the Centers of Disease and Control (CDC) and Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH).
All changes will go into effect June 23. Patients in the emergency room will be allowed two visitors at a time, must be over 16 years of age. Inpatient care will have daily hours from 1 pm to 7 pm, limit two visitors at a time over the age of 16. Outpatient services will be allowed a single visitor but it is preferred the patient comes alone when able.
For the Long Term Care, Springvale Assisted Living and Springvale Independent Living Ratzlaff says the staff is actively working to reopen to visitors. State and local officials have created a three-phased approach to easing the current restriction. She says as they move from Phase 1 to Phase 2 they will be working closely with families of residence on the guidelines to ensure the safety of the staff and resident.
HCMH will continue to make exceptions for end of life care and those struggling with confusion or delirium in all departments. They thank the community for their continued understanding and for doing their part to protect all at HCMH.
