Dakota City, IA – Humboldt County is approving the hire of a new drainage clerk.
On Monday, Dec. 21, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors motioned to hire Kim Lonning as the next drainage clerk for the county. She was present during their meeting to introduce herself.
Lonning is a Dakota City native but did move out to the east coast for a “few years.” She returned to the community because this is where she wanted to raise her son. She calls this community “home.”
She currently holds a real estate license and has also worked in the transportation business. The new drainage clerk also holds experiences as a dispatcher before being offered the drainage clerk position.
Lonning says that she is “excited” to take the position and be working for the county. Supervisor Bruce Reimers says that they are “looking forward to working” with her.
The Drainage Clerk position was previously held by Trish Erickson who vacated the position after being elected as the new Humboldt County Auditor. The hiring of the new clerk is retroactive to Dec. 16 and for the rate of $20 an hour.
