Humboldt, IA -A documentary about Catch wrestling and Humboldt’s own Frank Gotch is planned to be released later this year. Mike Chapman is an author, historian and public speaker who has written 31 books, 3 of them on Gotch and is a consultant and script writer for the project. He says Gotch is the central figure in the documentary.
The film was partially shot in Humboldt, where Gotch lived and trained. Chapman says that Gotch was one of was one of the biggest sports stars of the early 20th century.
Curran Jacobs is the director of the documentary and it’s being produced by the Red, White and Blue project who has a deal with Amazon Prime to stream the film. The hope is to have it premiered in Humboldt some time before Christmas.
