Humboldt, IA -September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and often it is Police who respond to Mental Health Crises. Humboldt Police Chief Joel Sanders says that he implemented an 8 hour training called the reset model on how to to recognize and better respond to a mental health crisis. Sanders says removing the stigma of mental illness is important.
Sanders says that Humboldt County partner with Rolling Hills Community Services and Plains Area Mental Health in Sac City for mental health services. Sanders says that there is still an issue is lack of resources for mental health in the community.
