Manly, IA – The Humboldt Wildcats won their non-conference matchup in Manly against the Central Springs Panthers 15-4 in five innings.
The Cats jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one and had a 6-1 lead after two. Another four-run inning in the third pushed Humboldt’s lead to 10-1 going into the fourth where Humboldt would drive across another five runs at the plate. Central Springs would add another run in the fourth and two more in the fifth before Humboldt would record the final out for the win. Chase Hansen started for the Wildcats in his first start at the varsity level and tossed four innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Kyle Caquelin would start the final inning and record the first out while issuing four walks with Cyler Cirks recording the final two outs for the win.

Offensively for the Wildcats, Josh Thurm was a single away from the cycle with 3-4 night and two RBIs, recording a home run to start the game, a triple and a double.

Corey Dettmann and Evan Hatcher each recorded two RBIs with Dettmann registering four RBIs and Hatcher with three RBIs. Christian Lee had two RBIs and Isaiah Busick had one.

With the win, the first place Humboldt Wildcats improve to 11-2 (5-0 NCC) and now host NCC foe St. Edmond on Friday night at the Humboldt High School Baseball Field.
