West Bend, IA – A Burt man is dead after a semi collided with a concrete mixer in northwestern Humboldt County on Wednesday.
The Iowa State Patrol says a semi tractor-trailer driven by Shane Edward Stanton, 27 of Philadelphia, MS; was driving south on Birch Ave. in West Bend and a concrete mixer driven by 29-year-old Taylor Lee Chance of Burt, was eastbound on 110th St. The State Patrol says Stanton did not yield the right of way and crashed with Chance around 5 :00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Chance was killed in the collision and Stanton was injured and flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation and sheriff’s offices from Humboldt County, Kossuth County, Palo Alto County, and Pocahontas County along with Gilmore City Fire and EMS, Humboldt County EMS, Bode Fire and EMS, Ottosen Fire, West Bend Fire and EMS, and Lentz Funeral Home assisted with the accident.
