Fort Dodge, IA – Fort Dodge Fire Crews battled a blaze Tuesday night as a three-story building went up in flames at 1107 Central Ave.
At 9:02 pm, the Fort Dodge Fire Department responded to reports of smoke coming from the roof and front windows of the building. On scene, fire crews observed smoke coming from the 2nd and 3rd floors of the structure.
According to a press release, fire attack, search and ventilation procedures were immediately initiated on scene. The fire was well involved on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the structure and multiple handlines were required to bring the fire under control, and an extensive overhaul of the fire area was conducted. After overhaul was complete, firefighters removed sections of the roof to fully extinguish remaining hotspots.
A second alarm was called, bringing back nine off-duty firefighters to staff the station and additional resources to the scene. A total of 21 Fort Dodge Fire Department personnel were on-site for about four hours. There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The Fort Dodge Fire Department was assisted by the Fort Dodge Police Department and the Webster County Sheriff’s Office.
