Humboldt, IA – After three seasons at the helm of Humboldt softball and 18 total years in a coaching capacity, Humboldt Head Softball Coach Erica Post is stepping away from the program at Humboldt High School.

Under Post, the softball program accumulated a record of 45-46 (25-17 NCC). The team had their best season under Post in the 2023 season with a record of 19-12 (11-3 NCC) in route to a runner-up finish in the conference. Humboldt made it twice to the regional semifinal round of the playoffs, falling 2-1 in 2023 to Saydel and 11-10 to Eagle Grove in 2025.

Before assuming the role of head coach, Post served as an assistant under two head coaches, Katie Schuelke in 2022 and Iowa Girls Softball Coaches Association Hall of Fame coach Doug Van Pelt from 2008-2021.

Her resignation was accepted at Monday’s school board meeting for the Humboldt Community School District. A search for a new head softball coach is now underway.
