Fort Dodge, IA – The City of Fort Dodge provided an update last week regarding a heavy traveled bridge that sustained erosion in Tuesday night’s heavy rain downpour that saw approximately four inches of rain fall.
One of the piers of the Kenyon Road Bridge in Fort Dodge had suffered a washout in the aftermath of Tuesday night’s rain. After observation by the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT), the city said in an update on their Facebook page that they are continuing to work with the Iowa DOT on restoration in this area. The surface erosion from the recent storm is not jeopardizing the pier of the bridge or its integrity, cited by the fact the bridge pier foundation is comprised of deep drilled shafts that extend more the 50 feet deep from the surface into bedrock layers.
The latest update was provided on Thursday night (September 18).
