Kossuth County, IA – One person died and another two were injured in a semi and SUV collision west of Algona Monday morning.
According to the Iowa State Patrol crash report, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday, a semi traveling southbound on 90th Avenue failed to come to a stop at the intersection of 210th Street and hit a 2022 Chevy Equinox traveling eastbound on 210th Street.
The driver of the Chevy Equinox, 47-year-old Carolee Wise of Emmetsburg, was pronounced dead on scene. She was later transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office. A passenger in the equinox, 76-year-old Bernadette Wise of Emmetsburg and the driver of the semi, 40-year-old Teddy Kutsch of Brule, Nebraska both sustained injuries and were transported to the Kossuth Regional Heath Center by Algona EMS.
The semi was operated by Hurtig Trucking, LLC. of Paullina, Iowa. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Mitch’s Towing.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on scene by the Algona Fire Department, the Algona Police Department, Algona EMS, the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, the Kossuth County Emergency Management Agency, Mitch’s Towing, and Oakcrest Funeral Home.
