Humboldt, IA – The class of 2026 at Humboldt High School was comprised of 112 seniors who crossed the stage on Sunday in this year’s commencement. Humboldt High School principal Travis Sprague reflected on this year’s class.

“This is a highly involved class. When I think of the class of 2026, they’re involved in everything and then some. So, to see all the recognition, all the pride that’s within our Humboldt community, but especially in this class of 2026, has just been awesome.”

He had a parting message for the graduates.

“These kids are doers here. That’s what I know. So go out and do. They have all the intellect, all the ability, all the drive. Just go out and do it, and then they will succeed in all levels. I look at all the different varieties of fields these kids are going to go into. They’re going to make a difference in our world and in our community.”

During the ceremony, Senior Class President Joel Thurm delivered a heartfelt speech reflecting on the high school experience along with Kate Sievers, while Salutatorian Kayla Weinert and Valedictorians Claire Olson and Joel Thurm were recognized for their academic excellence. Special awards were presented to students for achievements in various academic departments and community service, totaling 21 in all.

The ceremony also included a musical performance by the school’s vocal jazz group and the presentation of diplomas.
