Humboldt, IA – Dangerous heat and humidity will continue across north central, northwest, and west central Iowa today, with the National Weather Service keeping a Heat Advisory in effect until 10 p.m. Monday.

Forecasters say heat index values could reach 105 degrees during the afternoon and early evening, creating conditions that increase the risk of heat-related illnesses for anyone spending extended periods outdoors.

The National Weather Service urges residents to take precautions by drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned buildings when possible, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun, and limiting strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.

Officials also encourage people to check on elderly relatives, neighbors, young children, and anyone without access to adequate cooling, as they are especially vulnerable to extreme heat.
