OLD TIME BEEF STEW SUPPER

Fall is here and that means it’s time for the Humboldt County Democratic “Old Time Stew Supper.” Mark your calendars for October 21st from 5-7pm at the VFW in Dakota City. Come enjoy Old Time Stew Supper, along with  homemade bread and fresh baked pies.  Vegan Options are also available. Cost is just ten dollars for adults and Kids 10 and under just five dollars. Eat in, Carry-Out and Curbside service is available. Tickets available from Kathy Eck at 332-4749 or at the door. Humboldt Co. Sheriff Hosting DEA National RX Take Back

This Saturday the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is hosting the DEA National RX Take Back event. Turn in unneeded medication for safe disposal.  So, bring all unneeded medications this Saturday from 10am-2pm to the Humboldt County Law Enforcement Center Lobby and support the DEA National RX take Back event.

St. Mary’s Fall Festival, Broasted Chicken Dinner

Fall Festival, Broasted Chicken Dinner at the St. Mary’s Church on Sunday October 30th from 10:30am – 1:00pm Inside Seating or Drive Thru.  The line for the drive thru will form on 4th Ave N from 4th St. to 3rd St.  Dinner tickets and raffle chances are available at Humboldt Engraving and the Parish Office Adults-$12.50, Children 4-8yrs-$5, 3 and under are free.  The Dinner is:  Broasted Chicken, Mashed Potatoes/gravy, Corn, Coleslaw/Applesauce, Dinner Roll and Homemade Pie or Bar.  TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE.

Murder Mystery Ball at the Millhouse!

Its 1900 and you have been invited to the Millhouse Brown to celebrate Mr. and Mrs. Browns 50th Wedding Anniversary! This is to be the ball of the century filled with laughter, dancing, and good conversations. Suddenly a scream erupts from outside and a maid rushes through door pronouncing Mr. Brown dead! You witness Mr. Brown’s body lying next to the ramp of his precious saw mill and he is cold as ice. Mr. Brown is dead but who killed him? Was it the maid who found him? Or one of you? Find out at the Murder Mystery Ball!

Humboldt Sno-Skimmers Membership Supper

Humboldt Sno-Skimmers are having their membership supper Friday Nov. 18, at River Valley Orchards.  Social hour begins at 6pm with the meal served at 7pm.  The meal is a Taco Bar the price/plate is $15 for adults and $10 for kids under 12.  Club membership dues are $40 a year for a family which includes $20 for ISSA dues.  There will be a raffle for those who attend the supper for a Blackstone Pro Series Cabinet griddle.  For more information contact Shane Braby at 515-890-1945.

CHRISTMASLAND

Kiwanis Christmasland prepares to open for the holiday season Friday Nov. 25th.  This marks the 40th year of this popular holiday attraction sponsored by the Humboldt/Dakota City Kiwanis Club.  It has been visited by more that 150,000 people since its opening in 1982.

For 2022 there will be some new items and updates but lots of the traditional favorite scenes that people have come to know and enjoy year after year.
The Kiwanis club wants Christmasland to be a safe and fun experience for all.

Christmasland is located directly south of the Humboldt City Hall at 407 1st Avenue South.  It is one block south of the Humboldt Law Enforcement Center the one-half block east.

Kiwanis Christmasland will be open the following hours for the 2022 season:
Friday and Saturday November 25th and 26th – 2:30-4:30p.m. and 6:30-8:30p.m.
Sunday’s – 2:30-4:30p.m.
Friday’s – 6:30- 8:30p.m.
Saturday’s – 2:30-4:30p.m. and 6:30-8:30p.m.
Monday – Friday Dec. 19th-23rd 6:30-8:30p.m.
Thursday Dec. 22nd – Dec. 24th   only 2:30-4:30p.m.

Christmasland will be closed for inclement weather.  Notification will be posted outside and via the Humboldt-Dakota City Kiwanis Facebook page.  The Kiwanis Club has never charged admission to Christmasland; however donations are appreciated as they help the exhibit grow.

Then at the end of the visit is Santa Claus he will give all good girls and boys a candy cane after their visit.

Christmasland will be open by arrangement for group tours.  Call Dave Lee at (5150 890-0116 to schedule a day and a time.  All school groups, nursing homes, group homes, church groups, businesses and civic organizations are welcome, but special arrangements are limited, so call ahead.
