The Hardpack 30 is back after a one-year hiatus. This year’s ride is on September 16, starting at 9:00 AM.  It starts and ends at TractorLift Brewery.  Riders will bike the wonderful Three Rivers Trail to Thor and back, about 24 miles.

Riders will have the opportunity to fuel up before, during and after the ride. Bolt Nutrition will be open early for the start of the ride. In Thor at the turn around point, Dom’s Catering will provide food for purchase. Dom’s can only accept cash.  Unkie’s will have their bar open for business.  After the ride, Humboldt downtown businesses will provide a wide variety of fare for riders.

The Hardpack 30 team is very pleased with the level of support and interest in the community.  Many businesses have sponsored the ride, printed promotional materials, and given items for the raffle. Humboldt County Memorial Hospital will provide an ambulance crew to support the riders.

On the afternoon of the ride, Pheasants Forever is holding a raffle in conjunction with the ride. Register for the bike ride at hardpack30.com <http://hardpack30.com>  or pick up a registration form at TractorLift Brewery.  Registration is $35 until August 19 and after $45.  Your entry fee includes a T-shirt with the Hardpack 30 logo.

All proceeds from the bike ride and the raffle will go enhancing and connecting the Three Rivers Trail.

St. Joe Knights of Columbus are holding their 67^th Annual Mulligan Stew Dinner Wed. August 16^th from 5-7pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe, IA.  The dinner is a dine-in or drive-thru for Stew only, pie and ice cream will be served for dessert.  The price is $10 for 2 pints of stew.

River Valley Orchard, Winery & Distillery is Open Saturdays 11-3 & Sundays 11-4 with FREE live music on Sundays from 1-3pm. This Sunday, August 20th, Enjoy the weekly special or a stone oven pizza and a flight of wine or spirits, Sangria, or a tasty Mimosa. While enjoying the free music featuring Rod Johnson

Gilmore City Fun Day’s Aug 25 – 27^th in Gilmore City, IA.  Activities start Friday at 5pm with Pro Coop Corn Box, Dairiette Ice Cream, Wine Slushies, Balloon Artist,Face Painting, DJ Bingo, Dinner by 1883, Mad Tee’s Shirt Press then at 8pm the Eli Netz Band, Saturday City Wide Garage Sales, The Reef Food Truck, Family Photos at the Gazebo, Street Vendors, Summer Snow Hawaiian Ice, Boldt Nutrition, Parade at 11am many more activities with Cory Waller And The Wicked Things taking stage at 8pm,   Sunday Fire & Ambulance Breakfast at the Fire Station, Tractor Ride, Community Church on Lutheran Lawn.

Poker Run Saturday, August 26^th, to Support Special Olympics & Brent’s Polar Bear Plunge Team.  Registration will be from 9-11am, $25-for riders with passenger, $15 single rider, includes meal at Blue Moose.  The ride will start at the Blue Moose Saloon, Renwick – Flipside Pizza & Pub, LuVerne – Knotty Pine, Humboldt – Amigos, Fort Dodge – Riverside, Lehigh – Knuckleheads, Badger and back to Blue Moose by 6pm.  Meal and drawing for prizes will be at 6:30 at Blue Moose.

Come out and enjoy the Iowa Harness races Saturday August 26^th, post time will be 12:30pm at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds.  There is not a charge to get into the races, but a program with the pick a winner cards will be $5.  There will be prizes given out for 2 or 3 winning cards in each race.

Badger Public Library will be hosting 20 Iowa Authors representing all genres at their Bookfair, Sat. Sept. 16^th from 9am – 1pm during the city-wide garage sales.  The Bookfair will be located at the Badger Public Library 211 1^st Ave SE across the corner from the fire station.

Faith United Methodist Church’s ANNUAL TURKEY DINNER will be Wednesday, September 20^st, from 5-6:30pm at Humboldt Worship Center for drive thru (use North Side of  the church) and carry out (use South side of the church).  Tickets for adults are $12, 5-10yr old are $6, 4 and under are free, tickets go on sale Sept. 1^st. @ Church office, Hy-Vee, and V&S Variety.

The LuVerne Firemen’s Annual Fall Supper is Sunday Sept. 24^th from 5-7 pm at the LuVerne Community Center.  Adults are $12, kids 6-12 are $4, 5 & under are free, they will be serving beef, pork, mashed potatoes, corn, coleslaw, roll and dessert.  Join your friends and support the LuVerne Firemen’s Annual Fall Supper.
