Join us for the ultimate showdown between ISU and IA for a fun charity slow pitch game with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation – Humboldt County. Our mission is simple – raise $300,000 to guarantee FOREVER one wish per year for a Humboldt County child. This is truly a one-time donation that will last a lifetime – with all the money staying RIGHT HERE in Humboldt County.

*          Gates will open at 5PM at the Humboldt High School Softball Field (no early admissions allowed or reserved seats)

*          Price To Enter is: $10/person

There will be a meal available for purchase including: burgers, hot dogs, chips, cookie and water. As well as concessions available for snacks, pop and candy!

We will also have activities prior to the game (which starts at 7PM) including:

*          Homerun Derby Contest ($5 for 5 balls)

*          Autograph Line ($5 to get all your favorite players autographs)

Americans for Prosperity is putting on a FREE movie and Popcorn event on Friday July 28 at the Humota Theatre in Humboldt.  Stacy Besch, Grassroots Engagement Director for Northern Iowa, will be hosting the event and will be available to discuss how to get involved!  They have bought out the entire theatre for the showing of Sound of Freedom, which highlights our border issues.

What:  Humboldt County Horticulture Show sponsored by the Humboldt County Master Gardeners & Humboldt County ISU Extention.

When:  Saturday July 29th & Sunday July 30th

Where:  Polka Hall at the Humboldt County Fair

Who:  Area gardeners are encouraged to exhibit flowers, vegetables, patio planters, and Flower Arrangements.  Everyone is invited to attend the judging on Saturday, July 29th at 1:00 pm.

• Open class rules are available at the Humboldt County Extention Office

• Register entries on Friday, July 28th from 5:00-6:00 pm or Saturday, July 29th from 8:00 – Noon.  Youth, age 16 and younger, are encouraged to participate.

• Judging is open and is an opportunity to learn about flower and vegetable gardening.  Prizes are awarded to outstanding exhibits from local nurseries & merchants.

River Valley Orchard, Winery & Distillery is Open Saturdays 11-3 & Sundays 11-4 with FREE live music on Sundays from 1-3pm. Iowa Harness races Saturday August 5th, post time will be 12:30pm at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds.  There is not a charge to get into the races, but if you would like a program with the pick a winner cards it will be $5.  There will be prizes given out for 2 or 3 of the winning cards for each race.

“Little Town on the Prairie”: Thor Program
This program is the fourth in the “Little Town on the Prairie” Towns of Humboldt County Program series. Explore the history of Thor and the people who created the town. Sunday, Aug. 6^th at 2:00pm in the Clancy Classroom, at the Humboldt Co Historical Museum.  Admission: $5.00 for adults over 18 and children 18 and under are free.

Register today for the 3rd Annual Schoolhouse Program at the Humboldt County Historical Museum August 8^th & 9^th  , from 9am – 12:30pm. This year’s theme is all about schools in prairie towns of the county! This program is for children ages 7 to 12 and there is no charge. Come meet storm chaser Tyson Thoreson Friday August 11, from 5-8pm at the Art Social 204 E. 2^nd St. in Holstein Iowa.  Come see “Just Look Up” Thoreson Storms Photography and see his adventures through photographs & Video.

Peace Creek Animal Sanctuary & Rescue Pool Paw-ty will be August 11^th from 8-10 pm (Humans Only).  There is a FREE WILL Donation to enter the Humboldt Aquatic Center with all proceeds going to the Peace Creek Animal Sanctuary & Rescue. Supplies also needed are Pine-sol, Paper Towels, Bleach, & Vet Care$$.  The Concession Stand will be open during the event.
