Friday, September 16 the Humboldt High School will be sponsoring a “Childhood Cancer Awareness Night” as we host Boone in football. The 9th grade game kicks off at 4:45 PM and the Varsity game starts at 7:30 PM, All proceeds will be donated to the Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City. Some of the opportunities to donate are:
1) $1.00 Raffle Ticket sales – 5 participants will be drawn to try a field goal kick at half time of the Varsity game. Prizes will be available to choose from if the kick is successful.
2) Silent Auction will be held the night of the game for a quilt.
3) Pass the donation bucket at end of the 3rd quarter of the varsity game on Sept. 16th

The Badger Public Library is hosting 22 Midwest authors at the Badger Book Fair on Saturday, September 17th at the library. It’s the same day as Badger’s city-wide garage sale, so stop by and check out their books. Doors open at 8am.
Fall Festival! Saturday September 17th from 12pm – 4pm at the Humboldt County Historical Museum. Admission for adults over 18 is $10, 18 and under are FREE. Step back in time to the prairie days of the county with the Fall Festival! Special guests include Moffit Animal Shelter, Stella’s Coffee Bar, DOMS Catering, and demonstrators from the county! Faith United Methodist Church will be hosting their Annual Turkey Dinner on Wednesday, September 21 from 5 – 7 pm in Morehouse Hall for Dining In and Carry Out from 4:40 – 6:30pm. They will be featuring two carry out lines for quicker service. The menu will include turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, jell-o salad, rolls, homemade pie and a drink.
Tickets are $12 for everyone 11 and above, $5 for children 5-10yrs old, and children under the age of 4 will eat free of charge. Tickets may be purchased at Faith United Methodist Church Office, Hy-Vee, and V & S Variety. Home delivery is also available by calling the church office at 332-2083 before Sept. 20th. Ticket sales start on Sept. 1st.
Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt is holding their Annual Garage Sale in memory of Mary Grebe, this Saturday September 25th from 8am to Noon. Lots of great items to purchase. Please come and support Zion Lutheran at 1005 11th Ave N. in Humboldt and have a fun morning shopping the garage sale.
The LuVerne Firemen’s Annual Fall Supper is this Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 at the LuVerne Community Center. $12 adults, $4 kids six to 12. American Legion Post 415 of Livermore is hosting a “Veterans Ride” October 8th, sign up will be 10:00-11:00am with a Fee of $25 per bike/vehicle. The ride will leave Livermore at 11:15am and ride to the following places: VFW – Dakota City, Rails – Eagle Grove, Blue Moose – Renwick, American Legion – Corwith, Flipside & Handlebar – LuVerne then return around 5:30pm for a meal and entertainment by Jeremy Ober from 7-9pm.
