The Bissel Pet Foundation has partnered with the Almost Home Humane Society.  To provide an Emergency Empty The Shelters zero cost adoption event in response to a puppy mill rescue.  The Almost Home Humane Society located at 725 South 32^nd Street. February 1-10, 2024 – Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 12-6 PM: Saturday 11-4 pm. Other days and times by appointment only.  There are no adoption fees during this event but there must be a completed and approved adoption application on file. The screening process can take a few days to complete so it is important to get applications in as early as possible. Adoption applications can be filled out through the website www.almosthomeiowa.org or onsite at the shelter listed above.

The Lions Club Annual Chili/Soup Supper will be on Friday, February 9th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. It is Dine-in or Carry Out.  Purchase tickets through a Humboldt Lions Member or at the door. Tickets are $10.00/person or $5 for under 12yrs. old.

Proceeds from the event will be going to the Humboldt Food Pantry.

Humboldt Community Chorus Presents “Music…a timeless treasure” on Friday, Feb. 9^th at7pm, Sat. Feb. 10^th at 2 pm, then on Sunday Feb. 11^th at 2pm.  It will be at the R. Help Replenish the Local Food Pantry:

Humboldt County Democrats will hold a food drive to support the Humboldt County Food Pantry on Saturday, February 10, at the Fareway Meat and Grocery Store, Highway 3 West, Humboldt from  8 a.m. – 7 p.m. . Shoppers are invited to donate non-perishable items or money.

Food items most needed: peanut butter, jelly, cereal, oatmeal, syrup, pancake mix, soup, crackers.
Non-food items most needed: shampoo, body wash, deodorant, dish soap, laundry soap, paper towels, toilet paper, all purpose cleaner.

The Humboldt County Food Pantry is operated by Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc. (UDMO).  UDMO also welcomes cash donations which they will use to by food in bulk.  If you can’t make it to the food drive, you may make a monetary donation.  Make checks out to the Humboldt County Food Pantry. Drop off or mail your donations to UDMO Humboldt Outreach, 419 Sumner Ave, Humboldt, IA 50548.

The St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus will be holding a Lenten Fish Fry each Friday night until March 22nd from 5-7pm or until sold out.   Dine in will be in the St. Mary gym and drive-up will be available on the North side.  $13 for adults and $8 for children.
