Humboldt, Iowa — The Republican ticket for the Secretary of State position was a crowded one, and it yielded some crowded results as well.

Favorite in the eyes of many pundits, Mike Naig won with 58% of the vote, but Dan Zumbachm, Craig Lang, Ray Gaesser and Chad Ingels all received 7% or more of the votes.

In Humboldt, Zumbach and Lang each won 12.34% of the votes.

Statewide, Naig gobbled up the most votes but didn’t get the requisite 35% to win, according to several media outlets.

Naig, the current state ag secretary, received 34.7 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s primary election, beating out state senator Dan Zumbach, who finished with 21.4 percent.

The Republican Party of Iowa’s state convention is scheduled for June 16.

The lone democratic candidate on the ballot is Tim Gannon, a former aide to Tom Vilsack.
