No Changes to Emergency Management Budget, Board Says

Humboldt, Iowa — The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors met with Humboldt Mayor Dan Scholl, also the Emergency Management Commission Chairperson to discuss the Emergency Management Budget allocation for Fiscal Year 2018-19.

Requesting an additional $40,966, the County made the motion to leave the Emergency Management Budget as it currently is.

Humboldt County Emergency Management actually began in the 1940’s and was know then as Civil Defense.

As prescribed by Iowa Code, the Humboldt County Emergency Management Agency is overseen by a commission comprised of the mayor of each community, a representative of the Board of Supervisors and the County Sheriff.

Per the Emergency Management website, Humboldt County Emergency Management’s mission statement is to: Prepare, Respond, Recover and Mitigate as well as to provide a service to local communities and the county, helping them with all that may affect them.

They are involved with all responders in the county also to help train, make plans for, and respond to incidents.
