$19 Billion Disaster Relief Bill Delayed Once Again

Washington D.C. — It’ll be another week of waiting for the $19 billion dollar disaster relief package as voting stalled once again in Congress.

House majority leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called for a recess before a vote on the bill despite the relief bill passing the Senate this past Thursday.

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has been an integral part of the bill as his amendment is included in this iteration of the relief package which includes coverage for farmers who lost millions of dollars’ worth of grain from storage bins during the record flooding.

Grassley says this package is a good start in addressing the flooding needs in the Midwest and it’s been long overdue. However, Grassley went on to say he expects the relief package won’t gain full congressional approval until early June.
