Humboldt, Iowa — The Humboldt City Council has approved incentives for downtown buildings including improving traffic safety and putting in sidewalks and streetlights.

Humboldt City Administrator Travis Goedken says it’s also about “getting landowners and businesses to become actively involved in the revitalization efforts by rehabilitating and renovating their buildings.”

The council approved a Central Business District Urban Renewal Area Incentive Grant Program during their meeting last Monday. With existing grants, theoretically an applicant could receive a total of $5,000 for building rehabilitation.
