Major Wreck Injures 2 Near Humboldt Hy-Vee

Humboldt, IA — A major wreck occurred on Friday when three cars collided in front of the Humboldt Hy-Vee.

Around five o’clock in the afternoon, Robert Clapper of Humboldt was driving his green Oldsmobile and turned east out of the Hy-Vee parking lot onto Highway 3 when he struck 20 year old Jaxon Kampen’s truck, glanced off the vehicle into the westbound lane and had a near head on collision with Sherry Wagner of Dakota City.

69 year old Edgar Wagner who was in the passenger seat with Clapper was injured in the wreck, as well as Clapper who were both transported to Humboldt Hospital. 76 year old Clapper’s car was totaled in the accident, Wagner’s 2017 Buick incurred $10,000 worth of damage, and Kampen’s truck was cited with $7,000 of damage. No charges were given, as fault could not be determined for the wreck on the scene.
